Shrubland, rocky areas, stream banks, and gorges. Ranges south from Deua National Park.
Shrub to about 2.5 m high. Branchlets angular, ribbed or flattened. Leaves alternating up the stems, 4.5–9.5 cm long, 14–40 mm wide, hairless, usually white-spotted below, tips pointed, margins entire, and rolled down. Male and female flowers on different plants. Flowers with 0 petals, 4 sepals, 2–3.4 mm long, falling early. Flowers in clusters, sometimes single. Flowers spring and summer. Seed cases 4-winged, 10–13 mm long, 15–24 mm wide, hairless; wings 6–8.5 mm wide, membranous.
