Tree or shrub to 30 m high, often deciduous in August or September. Fruit fleshy. Trunk sometimes slightly buttressed. Bark creamy to grey, smooth, longitudinally fluted and convoluted in large trees. Young stems hairy with simple hairs, becoming hairless. Leaves alternating up the stems, 6–20 cm long, 20–60 mm wide, soft, thin, hairless, slightly glossy, margins finely toothed. Flowers white, about 5 mm long and 4-6 mm in diameter, with a very short tube and 5 lobes. Flowers in many-flowered branched clusters. Flowering: October–January. Fruit yellow to orange, round, 4–7 mm in diameter.
