Introduced annual herb to 0.5 m high, or sprawling. Lower stems hairy with stiff white simple hairs, shorter glandular hairs becoming predominant higher up. Leaves basal and opposite each other, 3–15 cm long, 10–40 mm wide, covered with scattered more or less stiff white hairs especially towards the margins, margins more or less lobed, and toothed. Flowers blue, with 5 petals. Sepals 4.5–10 mm long, petals slightly longer. Flowers in 1-4 flowered clusters. Flowers Jun.–Oct.
