Low-lying damp areas in woodland and grassland. ACT and tablelands.
Annual, biennial, or short-lived perennial herb, prostrate, with branches to 0.30 m long. Leaves with spiny margins and tips. Bracts within the flower heads spiny. Basal leaves 2-15 cm long, 5–15 mm wide, stem leaves opposite each other, shorter. Flower heads oval, 5–10 mm long, 5–8 mm in diameter, with many individual small flowers. Individual flowers with 5 white, becoming blue, petals. Bracts within the flower heads greenish, 8–20 mm long. Flowers December–March.
VICFLORA states that Eryngium vesiculosum only occurs in Victoria. NSW plants (with one or two exceptions) belong to another species not yet described. (accessed 4 May 2021)
