Where found

Wet forest or woodland in sheltered often sloping sites. Between west of Ulladulla and Wadbilliga National Park. Ranges and tablelands.

Notes

Mallee or tree to 20 m tall.  Bark smooth throughout, shedding in long ribbons.  Juvenile stems rounded or square in cross section, warty or smooth.  Juvenile leaves opposite each other for 10-15 pairs, then alternating up the stems, but often reverting for a few pairs, stalkless or stalked, 3.5-8 cm long, 13-28 mm wide, green or slightly grey-green, dull.  Adult leaves 7-17.5 cm long, 6-30 mm wide, glossy or dull, green.  Flowers white, with 0 petals.  Flower clusters 3-flowered.  Mature flower buds 7–10 mm long, caps shorter than the base.  Flowers autumn and spring.  Gumnuts 6-12 mm in diameter. Gumnuts that have dropped their seed have strongly protruding valves
