Where found

Wet to open forest on periodically flooded sites along valley floors. Western Sydney area and Blue Mountains from Richmond to Nattai National Park.

Notes

 Tree to 40 m high. Bark usually smooth throughout, shedding in short ribbons or flakes. Often with rough, flaky, partially adherent bark at the base of the trunk.  Juvenile stems rounded in cross section, often slightly glaucous. Juvenile leaves opposite each other for many pairs, 3–9 cm long, 20–40 mm wide, stem-clasping, dull, blue- or grey-green to glaucous. Adult leaves alternating up the stems, 8–23 cm long, 12–27 mm wide, glossy or dull, green. Flowers white, with 0 petals. Flower clusters 7-flowered. Mature flower buds 3–5 mm long, caps shorter than the base. Flowers throughout the year. Gumnuts 4–6 mm in diameter. Gumnuts that have dropped their seed have protruding valves or valves that are not very noticeable.
