Mallee heath on sandy soils of limited drainage in elevated areas. Ranges and tablelands north from Wadbilliga National Park.
Mallee to 5 m tall or sometimes a small tree. Bark smooth throughout, shedding in ribbons. Juvenile stems rounded in cross section, warty or smooth. Juvenile leaves opposite each other and almost stalkless for 5 or 6 pairs, then alternating up the stems, stalked, 5.5-13 cm long, 10-45 mm wide, dull, grey-green. Adult leaves alternating up the stems, 5.5-12 cm long, 8-25 mm wide, glossy, green to grey-green. Flowers white, with 0 petals. Flower clusters 7-11 flowered. Mature flower buds 4–9 mm long, caps shorter than the base. Flowers Spring-Summer. Gumnuts 6-9 mm in diameter. Gumnuts that have dropped their seed have valves that are not very noticeable.
