Mallee shrubland. South of the ACT. Ranges, tablelands, and Kosciuszko National Park.
Mallee or tree to 15 m tall. Bark smooth throughout, shedding in ribbons, often with scribbles. Sometimes a short stocking of rough bark at the base. Juvenile stems rounded in cross section, warty. Juvenile leaves opposite each other for 2 or 3 pairs, then alternating up the stems, 3.5-10 cm long, 6-20 mm wide, glossy, green, pointing up. Adult leaves alternating up the stems, 5-11 cm long, 5-15 mm wide, glossy, green, more or less pointing up. Flowers white, with 0 petals. Flower clusters 7-11-flowered. Mature flower buds 4–5 mm long, caps shorter than the base. Flowers Spring-Summer. Gumnuts 5-9 mm in diameter. Gumnuts that have dropped their seed have valves that are not very noticeable.
