Where found

Mallee shrubland on poorly drained shallow sandy soils.  Coast and ranges north from west of Jervis Bay. Tablelands north east of Nerriga. 

Notes

Mallee to 6 m tall.  Bark usually smooth throughout, shedding in ribbons. Sometimes a few strips of rough bark at the base of the stems.  Juvenile stems square in cross section and often prominently winged, densely warty on the lower stems.  Juvenile leaves opposite each other for about 4 pairs, then alternating up the stems, 9-14 cm long, 20-55 mm wide, glossy, green.  Adult leaves alternating up the stems, 8-18 cm long, 18-50 mm wide, glossy, green.  Flowers white, with 0 petals.  Flower clusters 7-11 flowered.  Mature flower buds 7–14 mm long, caps much shorter than the base.  Flowers Autumn and Spring.  Gumnuts 8-12 mm in diameter, often ribbed. Gumnuts that have dropped their seed have valves that are not very noticeable.
