Western Slopes. Mallee shrubland on stony hills.
Tree or mallee to 15 m tall. Bark usually smooth throughout, shedding, sometimes irregularly, in large plates or flakes, often powdery. Juvenile stems square in cross section, usually glaucous. Juvenile leaves opposite each other for 5 or 6 pairs then alternating up the stems, 5–9 cm long, 25–48 mm wide, dull, green to blue-green or slightly glaucous. Adult leaves alternating up the stems, 5.5–16 cm long, 7–27 mm wide, glossy or dull, green. Flowers white, with 0 petals. Flowers in 7 flowered clusters. Mature flower buds 6-10 mm long, caps longer than the base. Flowers winter-spring. Gumnuts 4-8 mm in diameter. Gumnuts that have dropped their seed have strongly protruding valves or valves that are not very noticeable.
