Moist disturbed sites, especially gardens. Widespread. Occasional on the Western Slopes, Kosciuszko National Park, and ACT.
Introduced annual herb to 0.40 m tall. Stems hairless, often turning reddish. Lower leaves alternating up the stems, leaves on flowering branches opposite each other. Leaves 0.5-2.5 cm long, 3-16 mm wide, hairless, margins entire. Flowers yellowish green, tiny, with 0 petals, in small heads that look like a single flower, each head with several male flowers surrounding 1 female flower. Flower heads single., Flowers most of the year. Seed cases about 2 mm in diameter.
