Roadsides, disturbed sites, and moist places. Mainly north from Thirlmere. Doubtfully naturalised in the ACT. Occasionally elsewhere.
Introduced shrub to 2 m high. Stems hairless. Leaves alternating up the stems, 3.5–8 cm long, 10–20 mm wide, hairless except for occasional tufts of woolly hairs in the axils of the younger leaves, margins lobed. Flower heads yellow, with 8–15 'petals' each 14–18 mm long,, and yellow centres 3–5 mm in diameter, with many florets. Bracts surrounding the bases of the flower heads 8–15, 5–8 mm long. Flowers single or a few together. Flowers late autumn–winter.
