Weed near habitations. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands.
Introduced annual herb to 0.3 m high, sprawling. Leaves crowded, 1–2 cm long, 1–3 mm wide, hairless above, white-woolly below, bases stem-clasping. Flower heads 4–7 mm in diameter, cylindrical; bracts appressed to the flower heads 6–11 mm long, tips translucent and with purple markings, or silvery-white. Florets numerous, white. Flower heads in short clusters at the tops of the stems. Flowering: spring–summer.
