Subalpine and alpine herbfields adjacent to bogs and streams. Snowy Mountains.
Perennial herb to 0.45 m high, hairless. Strong aniseed odour when rubbed. Leaves mosly basal, 10-25 cm long including the leaf stalk, basal sheath to 4.5 cm long. Leaves compound, with 9–13 leaflets each 0.8–4 cm long, 7–12 mm wide, margins toothed, surfaces hairless. A few stem leaves alternating up the stems, smaller. Flowers about 2-2.5 mm in diameter, with 5 white petals, and tiny pink anthers, in open clusters.
