Shrub to 3 m tall. Branchlets slightly flattened, ribbed, hairless or sparsely hairy, warty or smooth. Leaves alternating up the stems, compound, comprised of 3 leaflets, each 1.4-5 cm long, 1-6 mm wide, hairless or sparsely hairy, glaucous or not glaucous, olive-green above, beige-green below, margins curved down, tips pointed, blunt, or notched, with a minute point. Flowers 20-30 mm long, pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, yellow to orange yellow, the keel occasionally greenish, densely fringed on the margins with white hairs to 1 mm long, Flowers in clusters of 1-3 flowers. Flowers Winter to Summer.
