Pastures, roadsides, and moist sites. Mainly Sydney area and Western Slopes. Occasionally elsewhere.
Introduced annual or perennial herb to 0.3 m high or sprawling to prostrate. Stems hairy to hairless. Leaves opposite each other, 1–5 cm long, 4–46 mm wide, tips pointed, upper surface sparsely hairy to hairless, lower surface hairy to woolly. Flowers with 5 white, shining, papery 'petals' each 4–6 mm long. Flowers in globular or oval to cylindrical clusters 10-40 mm long. Flowers Dec.–Jul.
