Variety of plant communities including pastures and moist sites. Western Slopes.
Perennial herb to 0.3 m tall. Stems bristly and sometimes cottony-hairy. Leaves in a basal rosette and alternating up the stems. Basal leaves 2-14 cm long, 4-25 mm wide, hairy to bristly, often slightly sticky, margins lobed, toothed, or entire. Stem leaves smaller, entire. Flowers yellow, 12–23 mm long, tubular, the tube split to the base, 2-lipped, with 5 lobes. Flowers on stalks 20–70 mm long, single or in open clusters. Flowering: throughout the year but chiefly spring. Seeds round, about 5 mm in diameter, brown, wing about 1 mm wide.
Extremely variable.
