Shrubland, wet heath, damp places, and roadsides. Coast, ranges, and tablelands.
Annual or perennial herb to 0.5 m high. Stems hairy or hairless. Leaves mostly basal, 1.4–10 cm long, 6–10 mm wide, thin, tips pointed, surfaces hairy or becoming hairless, margins toothed. Flowers yellow with purplish centres, 10–14 mm long, tubular, the tube split to the base, with 5 lobes, 2-lipped. Flowers on stalks to 80 mm long, in open clusters on almost leafless stalks. Flowering: chiefly October–April. Seeds brown.
