Forest. Coastal. Ranges north from west of Kiama.
Spreading or sprawling shrub, mostly to 2 m high. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.8–4 cm long, 2.5–18 mm wide, margins entire, and almost flat to rolled down, upper surface granular, lower surface hairy, sometimes sparsely so. Flowers with 4 'petals' joined together in pairs, 'petals' usually green to reddish brown, hairy or sparsely hairy outside, bearded usually above the middle inside. Gynoecium 18–28 mm long, style red to purple, sometimes partly green, hairy. Flower clusters 6–18-flowered. Flowering: autumn to spring.
In the absence of specific information, seeds of all species of Grevillea have been keyed as having one wing.
Occasionally hybridises with Grevillea arenaria subsp. arenaria.
