Forest and woodland, usually near streams. Ranges south from Deua National Park. Coastal at Green Cape south of Eden.
Shrub to 4 m high. Branchlets hairy. New growth usually pink or purplish pink. Leaves alternating up the stems, 1.2–8 cm long, 4–19 mm wide, margins entire and curved down, upper surface smooth and dull, rarely glossy, lower surface exposed, densely hairy or occasionally slightly hairy. Flowers with 4 'petals' joined together in pairs, 'petals' red outside with red hairs, densely to slightly appressed hairy, bearded inside. Gynoecium 11–20 mm long; style red or reddish pink, mostly hairless. Flower clusters curved down or hanging down, simple or to 3-branched; unit clusters of 8–36 flowers. Flowers throughout the year.
In the absence of specific information, seeds of all species of Grevillea have been keyed as having one wing.
Intergrades with Grevillea epicroca have been recorded.
