Heath, often on sandstone ridges. Coast and ranges north from Wollongong. Rarely elsewhere.
Shrub to 3 m high. Leaf tips sharp. Stems and young leaves densely hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, 2–8 cm long, about 1.5 mm in diameter, cylindrical, lower surface usually grooved, surfaces densely hairy, the hairs usually persistent until flowering; tips pointed outward, with a mucro 1-2.3 mm long. Flowers with 4 yellowish white 'petals' 5–6 mm long, free from each other when the flowers are fully open. Unit clusters of 2–6 flowers, often several clusters close together. Flowering: spring. 'Nuts' almost round, 25–30 mm long, 20–25 mm wide, distinctly beaked, deeply wrinkled or warty. Seeds with one wing.
