Dry forest and woodland. Western Slopes north of the Hume Highway.
Shrub to 3 m tall. Stems hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, 3.5–10 cm long, 7–17 mm wide. Flowers pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, more or less flat but often folded when immature, midrib slightly recessed, margins flat, tips rounded to pointed, mucro up to 1 mm long; upper surface green and glossy or hoary grey and dull, hairless except for coiled white hairs along the midrib, less often covered to varying degrees hairy with minute hairs, smooth, venation usually indistinct; lower surface completely obscured by light to dark tan or grey-tan coiled hairs hairs, midrib hairs dense, brown. Standard petal 8–10 mm long, dark mauve, with green-yellow markings. Flowers in 2-4 flowered clusters. Flowers in August and September.
