Dry forest and rocky areas. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands.
Shrub to 3 m tall. Stems with brown or rusty to dark grey hairs. Leaves alternating up the stems, mostly 1-9 cm long, 2-11 mm wide, strongly arched from the midrib, margins curved to rolled down, sometimes strongly rolled down, tips pointed or blunt with a short mucro; upper surface hairless, venation slightly to moderately raised, sometimes only the secondary veins raised, sometimes with knobbly projections from the vein junctions, lower surface with coiled, curled or crumpled hairs, often obscured by a dense overstorey of long, spreading hairs. Standard petal 7-11 mm long. Flowers pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, mauve to purple, occasionally white, the standard petal with a cream to yellow spot at the base. Flowers in mostly pairs or threes at the base of the upper leaves. Flowers Winter-Spring.
