Annual herb to 0.16 m tall. Stems hairless or sparsely hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.3-1.8 cm long, less than 1 mm wide, flattened cylindrical, sparsely hairy to hairless. Flower heads orange to yellow, with papery 'petals' each 2–5 mm long. Flower heads cup-shaped or hemispherical below the 'petals', 8–15 mm in diameter.Flower heads single.
