var. pratensis:  Sydney area. Montague Island off Narooma.

var. tuberculata:  Sydney area to Picton.

Notes

Perennial herb. Flowering stems to 0.35 m high, sparsely to moderately hairy. Leaves clustered at the base of the plant, 3.5–40 cm long, 1–5.5 mm wide, sparsely hairy, flat or folded, the basal sheaths often persisting as a papery or fibrous tunic around the fleshy, swollen, underground, stem base. Flowers bright yellow, with 6 'petals' 7–12 mm long, sparsely to moderately shaggy hairy outside. Stamens with filaments more or less equal and 1.8–3 mm long. Flowers in usually 2–8 clusters, each of 3–9 flowers. 

var. pratensis:  Anthers 1.5–2 mm long; seeds rough with tiny low rounded protuberances.

var. tuberculata:  Anthers 2.2–2.5 mm long; seeds conspicuously warty.
