Dry forest and heath. Blue Mountains and north. Rarely in the ranges farther south.
Shrub to 3 m high, Young branchlets densely covered with whitish hairs. Leaves alternating up the stems, 8–12 cm long; deeply divided, the undivided part about as long as the divided part, segments 1–3 mm wide, ultimate segments flat, linear and often more than 10 mm long. Individual flowers creamy-yellowish, densely covered with silky hairs, 15–18 mm long, tubular, with 4 spreading lobes. Seeding cones more or less round, 15–18 mm in diameter. Flowering: spring.
