Variety of habitats, including woodland, shrubland, roadsides, and rocky areas. Coast, ranges, and tablelands. Possibly Western Slopes.
Shrub or tree to 12 m tall. Usually weeping. The wood emits an offensive odour when burning. Stems angled or winged, hairy with minute hairs. Leaves alternating up the stems, usually reduced to scales; occasionally a few leaves present at the base of the branches or on young plants. Flowers sweet smelling, 5-10 mm long, pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, cream to orange-yellow, in clusters of few flowers at the ends of the branches and at the base of the upper leaves. Flowers Spring to Summer.
