Heath, grassland, and around bogs, at higher altitudes. Kosciuszko National Park, the mountains to the north, and the ACT. Occasionally on the tablelands and ranges.
Shrub to 1 m tall or sprawling to prostrate to about 1m diameter. Young stems hairy. Leaves aromatic when rubbed, crowded, usually opposite each other, 0.3-0.8 cm long, about 0.5 mm wide, margins curved upwards making the leaves appear cylindrical, tips blunt, surfaces at first hairy, becoming hairless with age. Flowers cream to yellow, with 5 round petals about 1.5-3 mm in diameter, in head-like clusters. Stamens 2-5 mm long; style 4.5–6 mm long. Flowers Summer.
