Heath and shrubland on rock platforms. Northern part of the Sydney area.
Clonal shrub to 1.5 m high. Young stems hairy. Leaves aromatic when rubbed. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.6–1.1 cm long, 1.5–3 mm wide, hairy to more or less hairless, tips pointed. New leaves hairy. Flowers with 5 white to cream petals each 1–1.5 mm long. Stamens white, 5 mm long. Hypanthium densely covered with long shaggy hairs. Flowers in head-like clusters at the ends of the branches. Flowering: spring.
Hybridises with Kunzea capitata subsp. capitata.
