Woodland and open stony areas. Widespread. No records from Kosciuszko National Park.
Perennial herb to about 0.4 m high. Leaves with more or less sharp tips. Leaves in clusters up the stems, mostly 0.6–8 cm long, 1–2 mm wide, margins fringed; basal sheath membranous, 4–12 mm long.. Flowers with 6 'petals', pink to white, mainly opening at night. Outer 'petals' 4–6 mm long; inner 'petals' 5–8 mm long, loosely tubular. Flower clusters 4–17-flowered. Flowering: July–Nov.
