Aromatic perennial herb mostly to 0.7 m tall, woody towards the base. Young stems woolly to cobwebby with underlying glandular hairs, becoming almost hairless. Leaves alternating up the stems, mostly 1-3 cm long, 2-4 mm wide, flat, hairy and sticky, margins sometimes wavy, tips with a mucro. Flower heads yellow, 12–18 mm in diameter, with many florets, 0 petals, broadly bell-shaped or top-shaped to cylindrical, borne singly at the tops of the stems. Bodies of the 'seeds' completely hairless
