Introduced shrub to about 3 m high. Branches densely hairy with short and long hairs, sticky. Stems square in cross section. Leaves opposite each other, aromatic when rubbed, 4–8 cm long, 5–25 mm wide, green, sparsely to densely hairy, sticky, margins irregularly toothed, tips pointed. Flowers bright orange, 30–55 mm long, tubular, 2-lipped, the upper lip slightly hooded and indistintly 2-lobed, the lower lip 3-lobed. Flowers in dense clusters of about 20–40 flowers. Flowering: throughout the year.
