Forest and heath. Ranges north of the King's Highway. Sydney area and north.
Shrub to 0.80 m high. Branchlets rigid and wiry, hairy to appressed bristly. Leaves alternating up the stems, erect, 0.41–1.5 cm long, 1–2.6 mm wide, margins with minute teeth to fringed; upper surface concave and often twisting somewhat, lower surface shallowly ribbed and grooved, tips tapering to a translucent point. Flowers white, tubular, the tube 1.1–1.75 mm long, with 5 hairy lobes each 1.1–1.5 mm long. Flowers erect, often inconspicuous, usually 1 or 2 together, often appearing clustered. Flowering: Summer-Autumn. Fruit oval to oval, about 1.6 mm long.
