Perennial herb. Rhizomatous. Hairless. Leaves basal, 20–60 cm long, 4–12 mm wide, linear, flat, grass-like. Scape cylindrical, shorter than the leaves. Flowers with 6 white 'petals'; outer 'petals' 6–10 mm long; inner 'petals' 8–13 mm long. Flowers in numerous clusters, each 3–6-flowered. Flowering: September–November. Seed case black when ripe, round, 3-furrowed, 5–8 mm in diameter.
