Where found

Wet margins of lakes and streams and in running water. Widespread.

Notes

Perennial herb. Stemless. 'Leaves' basal, 1–35 cm long, 0.5–5 mm wide, cylindrical or more or less flattened, with thin transverse partitions, tips pointed. Flowers on hairless stalks, with 5 petals about 1 mm long, usually purplish, in 2–10 flowered clusters. Flowers summer.
