Woodland, grassy areas, gardens, roadsides, disturbed sites, and moist areas. Mainly Sydney area south to Wollongong, and Canberra. Occasionally elsewhere.
Introduced annual herb to 0.70 m high. Stems hairless. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.5–2 cm long, 1–2.5 mm wide, hairless, margins entire, tips gradually tapering to a point. Flowers with 5 yellow petals each 4–6 mm long. Anthers yellow. Flowers in loose clusters, often appearing single. Flowering: spring–summer.
