Woodland and grassland. Canberra and tablelands.
Introduced annual herb to about 0.2 m high, whitish- or greyish-cottony hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.5–2 cm long, about 1 mm wide, somewhat rigid and erect, margins rolled down. Flower heads about 2.5–3.5 mm long, with 14-21 florets per flower head. Bracts tightly appressed to the flower heads mainly translucent, with greenish midribs, and brownish or purplish translucent tips. Outer bracts with cottony hairs on the midrib. Flower heads in clusters of about 2–12, surrounded by leaves to about twice the length of the clusters. Flowers Nov.–Dec.
