Forest, woodland, and rocky slopes. Coast, ranges, and tablelands, north of Dalmeny.

Notes

Perennial herb, sprawling to scrambling. Leaf tips almost sharp. Leaves basal, 2–4 cm long, 1–2 mm wide, nearly flat or with the margins curved down, commonly twisted, surfaces green or glaucous . Margins of the basal leaf sheaths lobed at the top at least when young, intact, white. Male and female flowers on different plants. Flowers with 6 'petals', yellow flushed with purple. Male flowers about 2 mm long. Female flowers about 3 mm long. Male inflorescence with a short axis below the flowers, or hidden among the leaf bases; inflorescence about 20–100 mm long, shorter to longer than the leaves, usually with a few branches. Female inflorescence globular, about 5–8 mm in diameter; axis of the inflorescence below the flowers absent or up to about 30 mm long. Bracts below the flower clusters thin, pale golden brown, obscured by the flowers. Flowering: spring.
