Dry forest. Tablelands and Western Slopes north of Young. Wollemi National Park north of the area covered by this key.
Palm like plant. Seeds with a fleshy outer layer. Stem subterranean. Leaves basal, 2–12 in the crown, 60–80 cm long. Rachis not or slightly twisted, leaflets 80–170, standing vertically on the upper side of the rachis, longest 8–20 cm long, 3–8 mm wide, often glaucous, sometimes a few basal ones reduced in size, basal leaflets not reduced to spines. Male and female cones on different plants. Cones 150–250 mm long, the longest spines on male cones 1 cm long, the longest spines on female cones 3 cm long. Seeds red when ripe.
