Shrub to 1.2 m high. Leaves aromatic when rubbed, opposite each other, usually 0.1–0.25 cm long, 0.5–1 mm wide, margins fringed with minute hairs. Flowers white to pinkish, with 5 petals, each 1.5–2 mm long. Hypanthium 1–2.5 mm long, top-shaped, ribs prominent. Flowers single at the base of the upper leaves, forming leafy clusters of 5–10 flowers. Flowering: late winter to spring.
