Garden escape. Mostly Sydney area and Blue Mountains. Rarely elsewhere.
Introduced annual herb to 0.6 m high, sparsely to moderately hairy in the lower parts; glandular-hairy (sometimes with longer non-glandular hairs) and sometimes rough in the upper parts. Leaves opposite each other, 1.5–6.5 cm long, 2–10 mm wide, margins entire and curved down. Flowers white with a blue, purple or pink flush at the base, or violet and red, or pink and purple, 12–15 mm long, tubular, the tube swollen at the base into a pouch, 2-lipped, with 5 lobes. Flowers in loose clusters. Flowers throughout the year.
Family was Scrophulariaceae.
