Rocky places at higher altitudes. Mainly Kosciuszko National Park, the mountains to the north, and the ACT. Occasional elsewhere.
Perennial herb to 0.5 m high. Stems hairy. Leaves basal and alternating up the stems, densely hairy with spreading haris, tips pointed or blunt, margins flat. Basal leaves 3.5–10 cm long, 3–13 mm wide, leaves becoming shorter below the flowers. Flowers white or pale blue, 3–13 mm long, 4–6 mm in diameter, tubular, with 5 lobes usually only slightly shorter than the tube. Stamens projecting 1–7 mm from the corolla tube. Style projecting 1–10 mm from the corolla tube. Lower parts of the calyx densely covered with hooked hairs. Flowers in clusters on one side of the coiled stalk when young, the stalk soon elongating. Flowering: spring–autumn.
