Shrub or tree to 12 m high. Fruiit at first fleshy, green, becoming dry and brown. Bark smooth with prominent vertically elongated lenticels. Stems angled, hairless, silvery scaly. Leaves aromatic when rubbed, alternating up the stems, 3–10 cm long, 10–22 mm wide, tips pointed to blunt, upper surface smooth, hairless and glossy green, lower surface silvery-scaly, midrib prominent. Flowers with 5 white petals each 3–5 mm long. Ovary hairless, with no scales. Flowers in 3–20 flowered clusters. Flowering: spring.
