Rainforest margins and wet situations in gullies; minor weed of wastelands. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands, north from Berry. One record from near Bega.
Erect to spreading annual or biennial herb. Leaves, and the bracts below the flowers and seed cases, with sharp tips. Stems hairy to hairless. Leaves opposite each other, 1.5–2.5 cm long, 4–13 mm wide, tips blunt with a sharp mucro. Flowers with 4 'petals', the outermost 7–8.5 mm long, the others smaller. 2 stamens producing pollen and 2 stamens that do not produce pollen. Flowers in small clusters.
