Heath, shrubland, grassland, and near swampy areas. Kosciuszko National Park and ACT. Tablelands and western edge of the ranges south of the ACT.
Shrub to 1 m high. Branchlets cottony hairy with short white wavy hairs and minute more or less hidden glandular hairs, soon becoming hairless. Leaves alternating up the stems, spreading, crowded, 0.1–0.3 cm long, 0.5–1 mm wide, upper surface hairless and dark green, lower surface grey-woolly and almost hidden by the rolled down margins, tips rounded or pointed, sometimes with a small abrupt point. Flower heads 7–12 mm in diameter overall, with 2–6 white 'petals', and cream to yellow centres. Flower heads conical below the 'petals'. Flower heads single, stalkless. Flowering: October–April.
Intergrades with Olearia floribunda in Vic.
