Plants of South Eastern New South Wales
Olearia glandulosa
Swamp Daisy-bush
Asteraceae
Dry forest, woodland, wet heath, moist gullies, along streams, and in swamps. Kosciuszko National Park, the mountains to the north, and ACT. Ranges and tablelands south from near Mittagong.
Shrub to 2.5 m high. Stems slightly angled (because of leaf bases continuing down the stems), young stems sparsely sticky hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, scattered, 0.5–6 cm long, 1–2 mm wide, tips narrow-pointed without a mucro; margins tightly rolled down with prominent glandular swellings making the leaves look finely scalloped; both surfaces dark green and sticky, blistered; venation indistinct. Flower heads with 15–25 white or pale blue 'petals' and yellow centres, 6–15 mm in diameter overall, hemispherical below the 'petals', and yellow centres. Flower heads in open clusters at the ends of the stems, appearing single. Flowering: November–June.
All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.
