Forest, woodland, heath, grassland, alpine herbfields, and swampy areas. Ranges, tablelands, ACT and Kosciuszko National Park. Western Slopes east of the Hume Highway. A few coastal sightings.
Perennial herb to 0.50 m high. Flower stalks hairy. Leaves basal (stems leaves usually absent), compound, 1.5–18 cm long, 5–80 mm wide, with 15–25 leaflets each 0.3–4 cm long, almost hairless to hairy, basal sheaths fringed and often hairy, tips abruptly pointed. Flowers white or tinged pink, the midvein darker, 1-2 mm in diameter, with 5 petals hairy on the outside. Flowers in 15–35-flowered tight clusters. 'Seeds' reddish, purplish, or brown. Flowering: spring-summer.
