Forest. Coast and ranges north of Palm Beach and Kurrajong. Occasionally elsewhere.
Woody twiner to 8 m high or more. Stems densely brown-hairy. Leaves opposite each other, 3–19 cm long, 20–90 mm wide. Adult leaves soft, upper surface hairy or rough to sparsely hairy, lower surface softly hairy with fawn to brownish hairs, sometimes becoming hairless; secondary veins 4–7 pairs, prominent, raised on the lower surface, reticulation distinct on the lower surface; bases usually cordate, rarely rounded. Juvenile leaves 2-lobed and cordate at the base. Flowers white, cream, yellowish, greenish, or brownish, 3-4 mm in diameter, about 4 mm long, tubular, with 5 erect lobes, in many-flowered tight clusters. Flowering: spring–summer.
