Notes

Introduced twiner. Stems grooved, slightly 4-angled, velvety or with scattered hairs when young. Leaves alternating up the stems, 4–12 cm long, usually 3-lobed, surfaces hairy, cordate at the base, margins shallowly toothed. Leaf stalks with 2 glands near the leaf. Stipules about 10 mm long, about 5 mm wide at the base, curved and tapering into a fine point at the tip. Flowers mostly white, the coloured ring at the base of the sepals banded with purple, violet, or blue. Flowers 25–45 mm in diameter, with 5 white petals and 5 sepals, white mottled with red inside. Flowers single. Fruit deep purple to blue-green, more or less round, 2 cm diameter.
