Prostrate shrub to 0.2 m tall forming mats to 1 m diameter. Fruit fleshy. Bark poorly developed. Young branchlets moderately hairy with greyish to tawny hairs. Leaves alternating along the stems, 0.7–1.9 cm long, 0.5–1 mm wide, cylindrical, sparsely to moderately hairy when young, sparsely hairy or hairless when mature. Flowers with 4 yellow to orange 'petals' each 9–18 mm long, more or less fused at the base, sparsely to densely hairy. Flowers almost erect to spreading, mostly subtended by leaves. Flowers Oct.–Jan.
